Jumping Jack Press Introduces Two New Holiday Books

NEW YORK – Jumping Jack Press, the pop-up book imprint from Up With Paper, unveiled its two new holiday pop-up book titles, Woodland Christmas and The Snow Queen, at the National Stationery Show today.

The Snow Queen, a pop-up adaptation of the beloved Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, is a 9×11-inch book featuring jaw-dropping paper engineering and pop-ups from the award-winning paper engineer who developed the company’s all-time best-selling title, Snowflakes.  The Snow Queen consists of seven intricate and dazzling spreads, featuring beautiful artwork and a retelling of Andersen’s classic tale, which has been adapted into numerous television shows and movies, most recently by the Walt Disney Company, which will introduce its version, Frozen, in November.  The book has a suggested retail price of $24.99, and is available open stock or in a 10-book counter corrugate.

Up With Paper’s Director of Paper Engineering, Yevgeniya Yeretskaya, created the artwork and pop-ups for the book.  Yeretskaya was honored as First Runner-Up for the Meggendorfer Prize from the Moveable Book Society in 2012, paper engineering’s highest honor, for her work on Snowflakes.

“The Snow Queen was one of my favorite fairy tales growing up,” said Yeretskaya. “As a child, I imagined how I would tell the story, if I could. Now I have a wonderful opportunity to do so!”

The multi-talented Yeretskaya also authored the other new winter holiday book from Jumping Jack Press, Woodland Christmas, which follows charming woodland animals as they prepare for winter—and Christmas.  With paper engineering by renowned paper engineer Bruce Foster, cute artwork, and fun pop-ups on every spread, Woodland Christmas will help get kids into the holiday spirit.  This nine-inch square book has a suggested retail price of $19.99, and is available open stock or in a 10-book counter corrugate.

Both new books, marking the 14th and 15th titles from Jumping Jack Press, were produced under the Art Direction of Up With Paper VP and Creative Director, Monika Brandrup.
